We purchased Oakley for my 14yr daughter, as she sadly had outgrown an amazing pony.. Oakleys a wonderful horse, who passed a 5 stage vetting with flying colours… the vet commented on what a lovely young horse he was.. Lynn explained in the 1st conversation that he needed a quiet sensitive rider & he’s found that with my daughter.. Every week there confidence in each other grows. Oakleys such a kind, sensitive horse, absolutely perfect for our family..

Honest and cares about the horses

We’ve been looking for our second horse. We bought my daughter’s pony 2 yrs ago and deliberately avoided dealers because of the horror stories. We have been very lucky with George, he is a kind, honest pony and will be with us for life. For our next horse we wanted a mother daughter share. I’m more novice than my daughter, but she’s tiny for her age so isn’t confident on anything too big. A horse was advertised by Broadhill Stables and I’d heard good things so I enquired. Lynn has been brilliant. We whatsapped a lot and agreed a two week trial. But what really impressed me was she called me to have a chat. She was careful to say she wasn’t interviewing me, but I think she probably was 😆 But I actually found that reassuring because it made me think she cares about the horse going to the right home. We discussed what we planned to do with the horse and she said that sounded ideal, but if I’d said we wanted to do nothing but dressage she’d have said it wasn’t a good match. Again, this was reassuring. Lynn has recommended transport but there’s no obligation to use them. She’s sent me an agreement to read and sign. She also supplies tack and rugs for the trial period and she recommends if you want to do a vetting, do it a few days after the horse arrives so you’re sure you want to keep the horse before paying out for a vetting. I have been really impressed with all communication. Time will tell whether the horse will work out (I really hope he does!) but I feel in very safe hands with Lynn.

Deirdre – Irish Draught Mare I had the pleasure of trialing Deirdre, a beautiful Irish Draught mare, and while I ultimately chose not to move forward with the purchase, I want to share my experience for the benefit of others. Deirdre is a striking, well-built mare with the hallmark presence and strength typical of her breed. She has a sweet, inquisitive personality on the ground and was a pleasure to handle in the stable—easy to catch, groom, and tack up. Under saddle, Deirdre showed a solid foundation and a genuine willingness to work. She has a good brain, with a steady, dependable demeanor that many riders will appreciate. She was brave and sure-footed, particularly out hacking, which speaks to her Irish Draught heritage. In the end, while Deirdre has many qualities to offer, I felt she wasn’t quite the right match for my specific riding goals and personal preferences. This was a hard decision, as she clearly has a lot to give and will thrive with a rider who connects with her way of going and wants to bring out her potential. I truly believe Deirdre will make a fantastic partner in the right home—especially for someone looking for a solid, kind-hearted mare with that classic Irish Draught character.

When my cob retired I contacted Lyn as she had found my wife her perfect cob. Had a detailed list to look at and decided to see videos of three. After much debate I decided to have one on trial. But, after being convinced honest about my wishes, wants and ability Lyn suggested another cob. After just a few days it became apparent that Lyn had matched me perfectly and I had the piece of mind knowing I had two weeks to try him, it really takes all the pressure off. Our smallholding has everything from goats, donkeys, pigs, a very large male turkey and three Peacocks all displaying to anyone and everyone. The trial gave us a few days to just let him get used to al the comings and going’s on. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Lyn, and if ever either of us were to need a new horse, wouldn’t go anywhere else.

Sweet, happy horse from a very helpful dealer

Our beautiful pony arrived sparkling clean and curious about his new home. He settled very quickly and his temperament was just as described, sweet and adorable. We couldn’t be happier. Lynn was always happy to answer any questions I had and kindly gave us advice in the first few days. The trial is such a good idea because you get to try a horse in your own environment and really get to know them. We were first time lucky with our pony saving us time and energy in the whole process which was seamless. Thanks Lynn!!

Highly Recommend Broadhill Stables
Following the loss of my wonderful horse two years ago, I purchased another that proved to be a poor fit. After two accidents resulting in months of recovery I was on the verge of giving up altogether. I am in my mid sixties and have been riding since the age of 11 and have owned many horses. However, the realisation that I don’t bounce so well anymore and that confidence is easily shattered, my daughter discovered Lynn Robertson at Broadhill Stables. Lynn recommended a horse that has proved to be just the ticket in so many ways, despite him not fitting my criteria for ‘type’ or ‘height’. Seems she really does know how to match you with the horse you need and not the horse you think you want! Thank you Lynn for making the process straightforward and professional.
